Becoming the Function

You will come to know that this is one of my favorite understandings of life. The body becomes the function. When I say body, I mean every aspect of what we do forms us. I ran sprints, I got faster. Then I learned how to train for running quicker and faster, then I got quicker and even faster. A coach that you are looking to impress, likely does not know how you got fast, he just sees you as fast. But, he will know why you are slow. You don’t care enough. You are not willing to put in the personal work. The kind of work that is on your own with no one around. Don’t be that person.

The body becomes what we train it to be. I learned from two young men I coach that are brothers. One year apart. Both absolute beast and committed team players. Both top performing 3 sport athletes. Their dad had them doing about 150 push ups a day, when we first met. Then they added 20 push ups a week. They were pounding out 400 push ups a day, every day. And yes, they had to have them done before dinner. AWESOME. It was a mentality. It was an understanding. Pumping out 100 push ups was nothing. For some sports, this is not the best way to go. These two young men were hardened and became what they trained to be.

I ask my players to challenge themselves. When telling a group of about 14 players to start adding push ups to their day, some did. Some kept adding. Within 5 weeks, a couple players went from maxing out at 20 pushups to over 70 in one set. Those that chose not to, were still sitting at around 25 push ups max.

The body becomes the function.

I built the PTWeb to enable all athletes to do be able to develop their entire body in all ways to so as to reach athletic and fitness goals.
